Carryboy/Canopy wrap for pickup trucks (Hilux, Revo, Triton, D-Max, Ranger, Navara) — Carryboy canopies are made of fiberglass/ABS, which requires different materials and installation procedures than the vehicle body. You need to understand this before deciding, to prevent the film from peeling off prematurely.

A Carryboy canopy is an accessory covering the truck bed to protect cargo and provide sun/rain protection. It is made of fiberglass (FRP) or ABS plastic, which are different surface types from the steel/aluminum vehicle body. The different materials mean that the film adhesive will bond differently, so the correct material must be chosen before production.

A crucial point to check before applying film to a canopy is the gel coat layer (for fiberglass) and the factory-applied oil coating (for ABS). Both must be wiped off with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) before application; otherwise, the film will peel off within 3–6 months. Our team always checks and prepares the canopy surface.

Insight: For canopies newly installed from the workshop, the surface will have a wax or polish coating from the finishing process. You should wait 2–4 weeks for the coating to evaporate or wipe it with a special remover before applying the film. If applied immediately, air bubbles and peeling at the edges may occur.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, you shouldn't. New canopies from the workshop will have residual wax or polish applied during the finishing process. If you apply the film immediately, the adhesive will bond to the wax layer instead of the actual FRP/ABS surface, causing the film to peel within 3–6 months. We recommend waiting 2–4 weeks or having our wrap team wipe it with wax remover + IPA before applying to completely remove the wax layer.

Yes, but different materials are required than for the body. Canopy windows must use one-way vision stickers (perforated film) to avoid obstructing the view, or transparent stickers for logos/text that allow visibility. Opaque PVC film should not be used as it will block visibility and violate traffic laws.

The lifespan of canopy film depends on the specifications. Standard Monomeric Performance + Lamination lasts 1–2 years. Upgraded Polymeric + UV Laminate lasts 3–5 years, similar to the vehicle body. However, canopy film may deteriorate slightly faster because canopies are often higher than the car roof, receiving direct sunlight without shade from the vehicle. If you want it to last as long, we recommend upgrading to Polymeric for the canopy (or choosing a higher-grade UV Laminate) to achieve 4–5 years of full lifespan.

No, it cannot be transferred. Once applied, PVC film adheres firmly to the original surface. If peeled off, it will stretch and deform, making it impossible to apply to a new surface. If you replace the canopy, new film must be printed, but the old artwork file can be reused, reducing the cost for the second time as no new design is needed. Our team keeps customer files for 2 years.

You can wrap just the canopy. This is suitable for limited budgets or if you only need "high-angle" visibility (canopies are higher than the car roof, so drivers next to you see them first). However, for overall visibility, wrapping both the vehicle body + canopy simultaneously provides a more consistent look. The combo price is 32,000 Baht, which is cheaper than wrapping separately twice, as installation can be scheduled together and designs can be integrated.

Not if peeled correctly. Our team uses a heat gun to warm the film (not exceeding 60°C) to soften the adhesive, then pulls it off in sheets at a 45-degree angle. This prevents damage to the gel coat. However, if you attempt to peel it yourself with excessive heat or force, the gel coat may be scratched. We recommend having our team do it. Removal service starts from 1,500 Baht per canopy.
