Etched Stainless-Steel Company Plaques — Institutional, Corporate and Government-Grade Signage
Acid etching on stainless steel 304/316 creates recessed logo details that can be colour-filled for a refined, durable finish lasting 10+ years. Ideal for premium company plaques, educational institutions, government agencies and spaces requiring a distinguished, authoritative and enduring appearance.
Etched stainless-steel plaques are widely used for institutional signage, including government complexes, ministries, departments, educational institutions, financial institutions, hotel lobbies and premium hospitals. What distinguishes acid etching from ordinary printing or screen printing is that the design becomes part of the metal itself. The design is etched 0.3–0.8 mm into the surface and colour-filled, preventing peeling, flaking or fading even after more than ten years of use.
The key to high-quality acid etching is consistent depth. Etching time and temperature must be controlled precisely: too short produces shallow recesses, while too long creates excessive depth and colour overflow. We use a specially formulated acid mixture and control the process to the second.
5 Production Steps
Artwork Preparation
Vector logo files are prepared with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 mm to ensure sharp etching.
Apply Acid-Resistant Film
Photoresist film is applied to all stainless-steel areas that must remain unetched.
Acid Etching
Ferric chloride is used under carefully controlled temperature and timing to etch recesses 0.3–0.8 mm deep.
Colour Filling
2K paint is applied only within the etched recesses while the original metal surface retains its finish.
QC and Final Polishing
The final hairline or mirror polish is applied, followed by detailed edge finishing and quality control.

Choose brushed satin for brightly lit spaces requiring reduced reflection, or PVD coatings in gold, black or rose for premium branding.

Frequently Asked Questions
Printed or screen-printed signs apply colour to the surface and typically last 2–5 years before fading. Etched plaques create recessed designs in the steel and colour-fill them below the surface, preventing peeling or fading. They resist UV exposure and weathering, with a service life of 10+ years, making them suitable for permanent, premium signage.
Yes. The minimum stroke width for sharp etching is 0.5 mm. Thinner strokes may undercut and lose definition. For logos containing multiple fine lines, we slightly increase the stroke width in the mock-up to preserve sharpness while maintaining a visually fine appearance.
SS 304 is the standard grade and provides good corrosion resistance for general indoor and outdoor use at a lower cost. SS 316 contains approximately 2–3% molybdenum, improving resistance to chlorides and salt air. It is suitable for coastal locations, swimming pools and other high-salinity environments, and typically costs around 30–40% more than SS 304.
Special PVD coatings in gold, rose gold, black or champagne are produced by a specialist factory and generally add around 30–50% to the cost, depending on size. The plasma-based coating is more durable than spray paint and is designed to last as long as the stainless steel.
Small plaques up to 30 × 60 cm can be installed using industrial silicone adhesive and the supplied mounting hardware and instructions. Larger plaques should be professionally installed because the level and stand-off positions must be measured precisely. Signs weighing 5–15 kg also require anchors and bolts rated for the load.
