Standoff is approximately 30–50% more expensive than Surface due to the added cost of Standoff bolts (stainless steel) + more precise wall drilling labor + more detailed QC work — but the premium look and visual depth gained are well worth the increased price for corporate lobby applications.
Both techniques can be used. Surface-Mount: Uses industrial Sika silicone adhesive or 3M VHB Tape (suitable for small letters). Standoff: Uses Through-Glass Standoffs, drilled through the glass and secured on both sides with rubber gaskets, for premium applications. Even tempered glass can be used, but holes must be pre-drilled by the factory.
Depends on the letter size and viewing distance — for letters 50–100 mm high, use 15–25 mm standoffs. For letters 100–250 mm high, use 25–40 mm. For letters 250+ mm high, use 40–50 mm. The principle is that the pin length should be about 1/4 of the letter height for a balanced dimension.
