From AI Concept to Real Signage

AI-Generated Design · Production Reality

No matter how beautiful AI images are, they still need to be
re-drawn before actual production.

Why can't files from Midjourney, ChatGPT, or Firefly be printed or produced directly?

It's undeniable that today, it's very common for customers to use AI to generate concept images before ordering work. Whether they don't know what kind of look they want or just want to see a visual before talking to a technician, images from Midjourney, ChatGPT, and Adobe Firefly make it much clearer to see the concept.

But the problem is that no matter how beautiful, realistic, or interesting the images generated by AI are, they are still "pictures" that lack sufficient information for actual production, whether it's for signs, vinyl, acrylic, logos, stickers, or exhibition booths.
All AI tools have one thing in common: — the results are only image files (JPG/PNG). Before they can be used to produce actual signs, stickers, or printed materials, they must always go through a tracing process to convert them into vector files.

Common Problem: AI Images often have multiple overlapping layers

Images generated by AI are often rendered as flat images that combine all elements into a single layer. Whether it's the background, shadows, reflections, or decorative patterns — all are "baked" together into a single pixel.

ตัวอย่างรูป AI ที่ผลิตจริงไม่ได้
Example of an AI image that cannot be produced directly — transparent acrylic layers are stacked, gold flower petals float without structural support, and holographic and chrome 3D effects lack real material support.
01 · Overlapping layersCannot be separated

All elements are combined into one image, with no separate layers for cutting or exporting as components for production.

02 · Baked-in lighting & shadowsCannot be removed

The beautiful highlight and 3D shadow effects in AI images are just pixels, not geometric data.

03 · Depth & DimensionCannot be produced directly

AI images display realistic 3D, but lack real depth, raised edges, or structural information.

04 · Colors and MaterialsDo not match reality

"Glossy gold mirror" or "chrome finish" colors in AI are simulated with pixel lighting. Actual color values must be specified separately.

Which AI tools do customers often use to generate concept images?

Midjourney
Popular for elegant, gold, luxury logo concepts. Results look professional, but text is often distorted.
ChatGPT / DALL·E
Easy to use prompts, quick concept images. Suitable for basic sign and packaging mockups.
Adobe Firefly
Integrated into Photoshop/Illustrator. Used to expand backgrounds or generate additional elements. Suitable for large sign mockups.
Stable Diffusion / Canva AI
Accessible, free. Suitable for customers who experiment with design themselves before sending for actual production.

Why can't AI images be produced directly?

01 · ResolutionInsufficient resolution for printing

Typical AI images are 1024–2048px. Printed signs require 150–300 dpi at actual size.

02 · No VectorNo paths for cutting or engraving

Acrylic and CNC-cut sticker work requires vector files (.ai / .eps / .dxf) that machines can read paths from.

03 · HallucinatedDetails in the image are not accurate

Text is often distorted, logos are skewed, and colors don't match Pantone. Everything needs to be recreated.

04 · Missing SpecsNo structural information

Actual sign work requires specifying material, thickness, installation method, bleeding, and safe zones.

Redrawing Service: AI Concept → Production-Ready Files

Octopus accepts customer's AI concept images, and our design team redraws them into production-ready files. This isn't just "copying an image," but interpreting the intent from the image and creating work that is actually producible, with the correct materials, dimensions, and production processes.

Service
Send us your AI Concept image — we'll redraw it, ready for production.

Our team will review your image, specify suitable materials, calculate actual dimensions, create production-ready files, and provide a comprehensive quote in one step. *Additional redrawing fees apply based on job complexity.
